Piston Connect Steel JOLT

When we talk gadgets and technology; a cable is not something that we likely get too excited about. However emotions can certainly run high when the darned thing fails. So if lightning strikes your Lightning cable once too many times, you might want to ditch the old one and pick up a Piston Connect Steel JOLT cable by LOGiiX.

As the name suggests it’s made of steel. While it’s not totally indestructible it’s virtually unbreakable as the cable’s exoskeleton is constructed with a steel braid and with its design, also tangle free. The connectors are also reinforced, covered with a durable aluminum shell; the USB-A connector is conveniently reversible and the Lightning connector has a slight step-up so it’s also case-friendly.

While cables can often get torn from excess pulling, typically the break in the cable or connection happens where the cable meets the connector – quite often from excess bending. To help prevent this from happening the Piston Connect cables have a flex coil at both ends to help stop the cable from pinching.

To finish off the product, JOLT also comes with a micro leather clip so you can tie up your cable nicely when it’s not in use or when you don’t need to use its full length.

The LOGiiX Piston Connect Steel JOLT comes in a 1.5 m length and available in one colour – steel silver. Not surprising. It retails for $49.95, a little higher price than your average cable but you may not have to go through as many as often plus it does come with a three-year warranty.  You can pick one up on-line on Amazon as well as on-line and in-store at your local London Drugs.

For Micro USB users, there’s also Piston Connect STEEL MICRO cable ($39.95) and for your audio needs there’s also a Braided Steel AUX version ($34.95) as well with 3.5mm ends. There doesn’t appear to be one thus far for USB-C users as of yet.
